Portable, a Boxing Champion After Victory Over Akpi, punches his way to the spotlight—this time not with a song, but with his fists.

Nigerian singer Portable, born Habeeb Okikiola, defeated Speed Darlington (Akpi) in a boxing match at the ‘Chaos In The Ring’ event in Lagos. Over the weekend, Portable defeated fellow entertainer Speed Darlington (also known as Akpi) in a highly publicized boxing match during the “Chaos In The Ring” event in Lagos, part of the Friday Fight Night series.

The fight originated from a disagreement over show fees. Darlington reportedly offered Portable (Okikiola) ₦500,000 to perform—a figure Okikiola considered disrespectful. Known for his brash confidence, he turned down the offer and challenged Akpi to a boxing match instead.

To the surprise of many, The Zazu crooner dominated the fight from start to finish. His energy, speed, and aggression quickly overwhelmed his opponent, leading to a clear victory. The outcome has sparked an online debate: Is Portable better as a musician or a fighter?

Fans are divided. Some argue that his music, particularly hits like Zazu Zeh, has brought him lasting fame and street credibility. Others now see him as a multi-talented entertainer capable of thriving beyond the music scene.

While Portable is still widely recognized for his eccentric personality and controversial lyrics, his performance in the ring suggests he may have untapped potential in combat sports.

Whether this boxing match marks the start of a new career path or remains a one-time stunt, one thing is clear: Portable knows how to stay in the headlines—on stage or in the ring.
